Bikini Day Side Event:
Damage of Nuclear Weapons and Urgent Need
March 5, 2025
This is a side event that was held on March 5, 2025, in the United Nations during the Third Meeting of States Parties to the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW). The central theme of the side event is “cover-up.” The full extent of the damage caused by nuclear weapons has largely been obscured. What has been revealed so far only represents a fraction of the total impact. This cover-up is a fundamental aspect of the inhumane nature of nuclear damage. Atomic bomb survivors and victims of nuclear tests are speaking out to remind the world of the inhumanity associated with nuclear weapons.
